The second-hand marketplace Users Express Anger About Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Updates
Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
