Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have come under increased strikes in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to blackouts in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were hurt while local people in the city's east were experienced blackouts and faced interruptions to drinking water, according to local authorities.

Meanwhile, a minor was lost their life in a distinct Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, according to area administrators.

Russian forces has escalated attacks on electrical systems over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from international partners to apply pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the US, the EU and the major economies - in providing air defence systems and applying sanctions," was stated in a public message.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen projectiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were working to restore power.

A barrage of missiles hit energy infrastructure and residential structures in the capital.

Multiple people injured in the strikes on the capital have been transported for medical care, per statements from local officials.

Area administrators said the city experienced intense attacks throughout the evening. A young boy was killed and several individuals were injured.

The attacks come after evenings of aerial attacks in the region, portions of which are currently controlled by Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to detect.

National leaders told reporters that Moscow was deliberately attempting to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already disrupting energy systems.

Officials stated utility staff and authorities were bracing for further attacks.
